How Pakistani Students Can Claim Google AI Plus for Free (Step-by-Step Guide, 2026)

Google is giving eligible students in Pakistan a free year of Google AI Plus. That means higher Gemini limits, 400 GB of storage, and Google's study tools, at no cost for 12 months.

If you searched for this before and found "Google AI Pro free for Pakistani students", that was the 2025 offer. It has ended. This guide covers the current one. I'll keep it practical: what you get, who qualifies, how to claim it, and the one mistake that costs people money.

What is Google AI Plus?

Google AI Plus is a paid Google plan that sits between the free tier and Google AI Pro. For students in Pakistan, the free year includes:

  • 400 GB of Google storage shared across Drive, Gmail and Photos
  • 2x higher Gemini usage limits than the free plan
  • Access to Gemini Omni and other AI features
  • Unlimited uploads for Study Notebooks, interactive visuals and Gemini Live

Google changes what each plan includes from time to time, so confirm the current list on the official Pakistan student page before you start.

Important: US students get the bigger Google AI Pro plan. Pakistan is in the AI Plus group, along with 140+ other markets. If a site promises you AI Pro with 2TB or 5TB, it is describing an older offer or another country.

Who is eligible?

Based on Google's offer terms, you need:

  • To be currently enrolled at a higher-education institution (a university or college)
  • To be 18 or older. Early versions of the terms said 16, but Google has since updated it to 18, so plan on 18+
  • A personal Google account. School-issued Workspace accounts do not work
  • A valid payment method, even though you will not be charged during the free year
  • To pass student verification through SheerID

You are not eligible if you are:

  • A member of a Google family group (leave it first)
  • Using a supervised account
  • Subscribed to Google One through a third party such as Google Fi
  • Using an enterprise or discounted Pixel-bundle subscription

How to claim it, step by step

Step 1: Open Google's official page. Go to the Gemini for Students page for Pakistan. You can also use the direct redemption link: one.google.com/ai-student.

Step 2: Sign in with your personal Google account. Use your own Gmail, not your university's email account.

Step 3: Select the Google AI Plus student offer. You should see the normal monthly price crossed out and 12 months free shown instead. Pick the plan Google shows you. You do not get to choose between Plus and Pro.

Step 4: Verify your student status. Google uses SheerID. Keep your university email address handy, and have your student ID or enrollment proof ready in case it asks for documents. If the first attempt fails, check that your institution name and email are entered correctly. A request for more information is not a rejection.

Step 5: Add a payment method. Google requires one before activating the offer. Use a card that supports online and international payments. If a card is declined, try another one or check with your bank that online transactions are enabled.

Step 6: Confirm and activate. Check that the checkout screen shows AI Plus at PKR 0 for 12 months, then confirm. Your 12 months start from the day you redeem, not from December. If you claim on December 30, you are covered through December 2027.

The mistake that costs money: auto-renewal

This is not a free-forever plan. After 12 months, it automatically converts to a paid subscription and charges the card you added at sign-up. One guide reports the Pakistan price at about Rs 1,400 per month, but prices change, so read the renewal price on your checkout screen.

Do this the day you sign up:

  • Set a phone reminder for 11 months from today.
  • When it fires, open Google One with the same account, go to your membership settings, select Google AI Plus, and cancel.
  • If you subscribed through Google Play, you can also cancel from your Play Store subscriptions page.

Uninstalling the app does not cancel anything. Also, eligibility is re-verified every year, so if you graduate, the benefit stops.

Watch out for scams

Because this offer is popular, expect fake "activation" sites, paid "student account" sellers and Telegram groups. You never need to pay anyone. Only enter your Google login and payment details on Google's own pages (gemini.google, one.google.com, accounts.google.com).

Is Google AI Plus worth it?

For a typical university workload, yes. Study Notebooks let you upload lecture notes and slides and turn them into quizzes and study plans. Gemini inside Gmail, Docs and Slides speeds up drafting. The 400 GB of storage alone is useful if your Drive is always full.

If you want the full details of how the program works globally, Google explains it in its official announcement, and the general plan setup is covered in the Google AI membership help page.

FAQ

Is it really free for Pakistani students? Yes, for 12 months, if you qualify and verify. A payment method is required at sign-up and the plan renews at full price unless you cancel.

What is the deadline? You must redeem by December 31, 2026. The 12 months then run from your redemption date.

Is it Google AI Pro or AI Plus? AI Plus for Pakistan. The 2025 AI Pro offer has closed.

I already used the 2025 offer. Can I claim again? Google says students whose 2025 AI Pro trial expired can qualify again, subject to the current terms.

Can I use my university email account to claim? No. Use a personal Google account. Your university email is only for verification.

What if I am not a student? The free Gemini plan still gives you solid everyday access at no cost, and Google AI Plus is a paid option.

Offer terms change often. Always confirm the latest details on Google's official pages before you claim.
